Patriots Equal Best Victory Run Since Brady Era with Win Against New York Jets
First-year player Henderson has scored five touchdowns this season
The New England Patriots equaled their best victory streak from the Tom Brady period as they defeated division rivals the Jets by 13 points in professional football
First-year standout TreVeyon Henderson shone brightly with three touchdowns as the New England squad claimed an eighth straight win for the first time since star signal-caller Brady's last year with the team in the 2019 season
QB Maye passed for 281 yards and a touchdown, completing 25 passes from 34 throws
The triumph bolsters the Patriots lead at the summit of the AFC East as they advanced to nine wins and two defeats, with the New York at the foot after dropping to a 2-8 mark
The visitors had gone in front at Foxborough with quarterback Justin Fields rushing for a five-yard touchdown to finish the New York's first possession
But the home team answered in the second period as Henderson rushed for two seven-yard TDs before the ball carrier caught a pass from Drake Maye at the rear of the end zone midway through the third period to push the score to 21-7
"That was a key occasion for him stepping up, and it's been fantastic for him to keep gaining experience," the quarterback commented on Henderson. "He desires to be outstanding."
Justin Fields found John Metchie in the latter part of the third quarter to close the gap for the Jets but Borregales converted a pair of field goals in the final period as the home side wrapped up the triumph
